Abstract

The article discusses the history and the primary goals of the Israel's Center for Bedouin Studies and Development which specializes on the research for indigenous people. With the establishment of Israel as a nation, Negev Bedouins' mobility was strictly prohibited which resulted to the restricted application of their traditional lifestyle. With this, the Center was established, which is now a main resource for researchers from Ben-Gurion University (BGU) for Bedouin schools and educators, social workers and community leaders. Dr. Alean Al-Krenawi has been appointed as the new director of the Center in BGU. Their main goals are to create a documentation center such as database, to conduct and publish original research on educational, social, historic and cultural issues of the Bedouin.
